Connie & Ron Buczkowski

Hello and thanks for wanting to see what Ron Buczkowski is about! This fall you have the opportunity to make a big difference in Beautiful Carroll County by electing a Commissioner to represent District 1 and my 10 letter name is on that ballot!

Harvestin’ Natural Foods, located in the historic Firehouse on Main Street in Westminster is where you’ll find me on a day-to-day basis. This 33 year old health food store was located in Locust Lane 14 years ago and I bought it in order to have a job. I was going to buy Bobby’s Hobby Lobby at the time, but another buyer swooped in just days before me. I knew nothing about health food business and my first day in I said, “God, you are going to have to make this work and I’m putting it in Your hands.” That was 14 years ago and I’ve enjoyed growing the business and seeing customers grow up before my eyes.

I was raised in a small row home in Southeast Baltimore where my father worked hard at Bethlehem Steel, brought home his paycheck to my mother, and she worked her magic with frugality and saving. She taught me the importance of being careful with money from a young age. I went to St. Elizabeth’s Catholic school and then Baltimore Polytechnic Institute for High School and then University of Baltimore where I received a B.S. degree in Accounting with a minor in Business Administration. I began working right away and through the years held positions in the business world as accountant, analyst, auditor, property manager, sales, and tax preparer. As the jobs changed and responsibilities increased and then eventually downsized, I saw the need to establish my own job security and that’s what lead me to purchase my own business to operate.

I bought my first home just 3 years out of college and then in 1986 purchased a home in Carroll County on Indian Valley Trail. The situation of that property lead me to coordinate a group of neighbors and citizens affected by the airport expansion which ended up throwing me into the paths of the present County Commissioners, newspapers, and public access TV As I found myself in the company of politically interested parties, I discovered how comfortable I was in this arena and enjoyed helping others become elected to positions such as Commissioner, and Lt. Governor. In 2007, after seeing my son off to join the Army, I took up residence at Carroll Vista in Taneytown….which brings me to District 1 and running for County Commissioner.

I love Carroll County. I appreciate the rolling hills and lovely countryside. I appreciate the variety this rural community offers in the physical, spiritual, social, educational, and business sense.

I am not one to waste anything on a personal level. (My 1998 Honda gets 40 mpg) I know how to streamline and I know how to save. Let me be the one to represent you well and to be a good steward of your tax dollars. Let me be the one to stand up for what is important to you regarding this unique county we live in. Let me be the one who may have to butt heads in a debate with an opposing “opinion”…yet the next morning can be genuinely friendly when that same “opinion” is standing beside me at the donut shop. Let’s “take the high road” and do what’s best for Carroll County now as well as for its future generations.

Vote Ron Buczkowski for Carroll County Commissioner in District 1.
